don’t down load, it doesn’t work, for all i know, it could be a troll.
download to desktop
open mod zip with 7zip
make a new folder and copy all into the new folder
run %appdata% and open your .minecraft folder
open the bin and open the minecraft.jar
open the folder with the mod files and select all
click and drag into the minecraft.jar
MAKE SURE YOU DELETE META-INF or it will not work
run minecraft- the mod should work i followed the instructions to a T that are provided on this site.
USE MAGIC LAUNCHER YOU NOOB!!!!!!!!!!!!

download zip of ANY mod
open magic launcher
click “setup”
click “add”
find zip file of mod
click ok.

I dont disagree, but does it clash with x ray mod? My x ray shows coords, so that why it no work?
I just cant get ModLoader to work, i either get a black screen or an error screen, ive been told only to add the 4 class ones and i did that, i downloaded this mod tried to add it but the mini map wouldnt apear on my screen.

I have a PC and I get the error -8 message too. I hade the too many items mod installed recently but that was in a different .minecraft folder. I got a totally fresh . Minecraft and installed the mod but I still get the message. I only started to see the message after playing the “Super Hostile: Sea of Flames” map if that helps too.
there is one answer i think your computer has full memory because i have that error when full memory and i want to ran minecraft

as with any mod that is actualy worth getting, you DONT actualy need mod loader with this . just ignore that step in the install.

It just doesn’t show up. I installed it correctly, and I have 1.2.5, but it just isn’t there.
1. install modloader
2. download rei’s minimap
3. open “C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft” not “\bin” or “minecraft.jar”
4. there is a folder named “mods” already here, paste rei’s minimap into this folder
5. profit

I have no idea how to do this… Modloader doesn’t appear. I can’t even find Modloader. What is the meta-inf folder, anyway. Can someone please help?

@Daniel the META-INF folder is a folder that protects your minecraft from virus causing folders. sadly, it also stops mods, such as modloader, from working. and thus deleting this folder will give all access to the mods, API’s and of course, modloader
For some reason, it’s not working for me. I download Mod loader with the correct instructions, and then after Modloader is in minecraft.jar, I put this mod’s contents into the minecraft.jar folder. I deleted META-INF and everything, following the exact rules. When I go on minecraft, though, there is no minimap

Is there a way to change the underground map from all-green to colored, as in the 1.3.2 Zan’s minimap? I have trouble reading the map when it’s all in fluorescent green.

Well, I ignored the file name and installed it in 1.4.5 anyway – and it works just fine. A very sophisticated and helpful tool indeed. I think Mojang should licence it from you and ship it as part of the game

Thanks for the update but the two link are the same, actually the two link download the 1.4.4 version, can’t you correct the 1.4.5 link please? I’d like to test your map
The 1.4.5 link now downloads the 1.4.5 update. For an experiment I installed ModLoader first this time and dropped the ReiMap zip in my mods folder. That works perfectly also.

Pretty much the same as my previous comment; changes as below
- the concerned version numbers are now 146 and 145
- installing the 145 map into 146 Minecraft doesn’t work. Minecraft loads eventually but no minimap.
Both links download the 1.4.5 version.

In Minecraft 1.5 (the new update) on the updated minimap, I am having a problem. The waypoint names get all weird like its just random lines and i can see where they are but not which ones they are. Its annoying.
